most importantly, PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION
Hey all! If you don't know me in person or haven't picked up on this from other posts, this is my union and my job. My hours are a little less insane since I sew rather than working on set (though still much longer than a normal 9-5), but for an example of the "Fraturday" situation this post refers to, the set costuming crew on my show came in at about 4:30 pm yesterday. They did not leave until 7 or 8am this morning. They'll have to sleep until tonight just to function. And then they have to be back it at- wait for it- 4:12 AM on Monday morning. And they do this every week.
Does that sound like it would kill you? Sometimes it does kill us. We're sick of stories of crew people falling asleep at the wheel and dying on the way home from shifts like this. Nobody on a below the line crew is trying to become a millionaire. We want reasonable rest and time to see our families. And we want streaming services to pay their fair share now that streaming is the norm of the industry going forward.
(Also the petition linked above is legit, it was sent to us by our unions. So please sign it!)
As of September 27th, 80k of 102k signatures have been collected.
