“‘People Are Greedy’: The Absurd Electric Bills Slamming...
  • Texans should file a class action suit against ERCOT, all the power companies, the governor & every member of their state House & Senate.  All of them should pay these astronomical electric/gas bills.

DON’T PUNISH THE VICTIMS.  PUNISH THE PERPETRATORS.

  • Thank god this isn’t twitter so I can say I unequivocally support murdering the people responsible. Don’t worry they probably weren’t smart enough to give cops lower rates no one will stop you.

    Look at the absolute evilness

  • “We know you’re struggling… have you considered a mortgage for your electric bills? 😊”

  • Just a reminder that removing all those BIG BAD GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS always benefits corporations.  Always.

“Just let the free market do its thing” is never going to work out for the consumer.  They made record profits, didn’t reinvest in the power grid, and when the system collapsed, their isolation from other systems left the consumers to foot the bill.

And since Texas courts are notoriously conservative, there’s every chance that the judgement to that class action suit is going to be, “You signed the contract agreeing to these terms, you’re responsible for it.”

I mean, when Texas Lt. Governor calls consumers gamblers for signing up WITH A UTILITY COMPANY, you know that the state government has the best interests of their constituents in mind!

Every day.  Every day I talk to people who have taken out loans they don’t understand.  They have signed up for services they don’t understand.  They have provided their personal and financial details to companies for purposes they don’t understand.

There is a large portion of the population who have been given no financial training by their families or the education system, and as nice as it is to say ‘just Goggle it, idiot,’ there’s MASSIVE amounts of false information out there, and a lot of the stuff that is useful depends on an underpinning of knowledge NO ONE HAS PROVIDED THEM WITH.

It is the responsibility of your elected officials, who GET PAID TO UNDERSTAND THIS STUFF, to protect your interests.  And if they’re not, ask yourself why not.

    VOTE.  THEM.  OUT.
